TV Shows descend on the Novillos during the December Rut
The peak of the rut was obviously near based on the previous days rattling experiences and just in time for the arrival of She Safari’s Brian and Pam Zaitz along with Stan Potts from North American Whitetail TV and his lovely wife Brenda. With a change in the weather forecasted for the following days and temperatures expected to reach the 80’s, we wasted no time in heading straight for the blind. It was quickly decided that we would send Pam and Super to a wildlife opening just a few hundred yards from where we had rattled up a great buck the day before on the South side of the ranch. Stan would head out with his guide Frank Davis and WTD’s Seth Johnson running camera for him due to a delay in the arrival of his cameraman. Shortly after arriving at the tripods Pam and Super guide observed an incredible 12 point buck scent checking the area for does and it didn’t take long for the decision to be made that this was a shooter due to his age and the fact that he was at least as good as the buck we had rattled up the day before. With a 75 yard shot Pam took the great brush country monster and was back at the lodge before dark. Stan, Frank and Seth also had an eventful evening seeing a great 10-point trophy that stayed just out of range. The next morning with his own cameraman in tow Stan and Frank were back to the Sand Hill blind. It didn’t take long for the big 10 point to make his appearance within range this time and within 24 hours both North American Whitetail TV and She Beyond the Lodge had both collected excellent brush country bucks and had great footage for their perspective shows.
