Western Kentucky Trophy Whitetail Hunts

Map

Over the past two decades the bluegrass state has produced over 181 Boone and Crockett whitetails and countless Pope and Young class bucks making it one of the top 5 states in the country and recently named #2 in the nation for Boone Crockett trophies per huntable land mass. Kentucky's herd quality ranks among the elite in the world as reported by Kentucky Dept. of Fish and Wildlife Resources. Christian County is one of the top county's for trophy deer in Kentucky and we have several thousand acres tied up in this big buck Mecca. With Western Kentucky's fertile farmlands, superior whitetail genetics and sound management practices it is one of the best zip codes in the country to look for a world class whitetail. Our properties have limited pressure and we allow our bucks to reach maturity, one of the biggest factors in growing trophy bucks. We have a 140-inch minimum on rifle hunts and prefer our bucks to be 4.5 and older before being harvested. We educate our hunters on how to identify mature deer and what to look for in a shooter buck. With more than 4,000 private acres to hunt with very limited pressure we can assure our clients of a higher than normal success rate on free ranging trophy whitetails.

Hunting

Trophy Deer PicTree stand and ground blind hunting will dominate the Kentucky experience. Early season bow hunts will concentrate on agriculture crops and the first mast crops. The middle of the season will find us keying on travel corridors between bedding areas and food sources. Hunters will focus on doe concentrations as the rut moves toward the peak. Late season will hunts will concentrate back on the agriculture sources and food plots.

Habitat

habitat photoThe fertile farm fields of Western Kentucky dominate the landscape bordered by small blocks of mast producing hardwoods. The majority of our land is made up of row crops with bedding and transition areas separating the crop fields from the hardwood blocks. Some of our properties are enrolled in CRP offering outstanding bedding habitat. We provide year round nutrition with our multi season food plot programs. In the spring and summer we plant food plots that consist of various high protein forage along with the massive soybean fields so common in the area. During the winter months plots consist of plants heavy in carbohydrates such as corn, small cereal grains, and brassicas. Kentucky is 47% forested offering the perfect blend of habitat types for growing trophy whitetails.
